Find Your Top Affiliates & Build a Stronger Relationship with Them

Boost Your Affiliate Program Challenge

One of the most wonderful parts of an affiliate program of your own is building relationships with your affiliates. Of course, if you have thousands of affiliates, that can be really hard, but did you know that more than likely 20 percent of your affiliates are going to make more than 80 percent of your sales? Because of this, you can build a stronger relationship with those 20 percent which will be easier.

The Pareto principal, known by many names such as the 80/20 rule, states that for most events in life from personal to business, 20 percent of your effort will account for 80 percent of your results. Knowing this, once you figure out what is working best, you can do more of that and less of what’s not working best and end up better off with less work. Hey, we’re all about working less but getting more, right? That’s why we want to build strong relationships with our affiliates.

Let’s look at some ways you can improve your results by building better relationships with your top affiliates.

  • Create an Affiliate VIP Club – Using the stats you have available, determine the lineup of your top 20 percent of affiliates. Start a VIP club for them using Facebook Groups or another type of forum if you wish. Send them a letter congratulating them for the milestone and all that they’ll receive due to it.

  • Invite Known Super Affiliates to Your VIP Club -- Invite people that you know are super affiliates in the club right away. If they market like products to your audience, you should invite them. Get to know them first, then craft an email to them asking them if they’d be interested in joining your affiliate VIPs earning extra commissions selling products like the example you send to them.

  • Ask Them What They Want – When you form the group, you can talk to them in that group asking them questions to help make your affiliate program better. For example, you can get opinions about your contest structure, your commission structure, and anything else you’re hoping to do with them.

  • Pay Them Higher Commissions – Pay your VIPs a slightly higher commission. If you are paying out 50 percent, give them 60. If it’s not a digital product, you can do smaller hikes, of course. Ensure you’re making a profit by doing it, but you want them to feel exceptional and motivated to do more.

  • Host Contests with them in Mind – Super affiliates love competition. It’s usually in their nature. Giving your affiliates competition in the form of a friendly launch competition is a great way to encourage them and help you all make more money. The contest will be open to all but design it with their help.

  • Give Bonuses for Reaching Certain Milestones – You can give bonuses to everyone who reaches a particular milestone but makes some great bonuses for your biggest affiliates. If they’re pulling in 20K a month for you, you can afford to give out an excellent prize to your top seller.

Everything you do to improve your affiliate program - from reaching out and getting to know your top affiliates to recruiting and training new affiliates - is going to make a big difference in your bottom line but understanding the 80/20 rule in marketing is going to increase your results without increasing your workload.
