How To Become A Better Email Copywriter

Email Marketing Challenge

Throughout this 30 day email marketing challenge we’ve been working on becoming better email marketers. Today, I want to share my top three tips for becoming a better email copywriter with you. Follow them throughout the rest of this challenge and of course going forward, and you’ll continue to get better at writing convincing emails that will get your readers taking action.

Never Stop Studying

The first tip is to never stop learning about copy writing and email marketing. There’s always something else to lean and something new to try. Keep getting to know your audience better, keep reading and learning more about good copywriting. Stay a perpetual student who’s always on the lookout for the next fresh idea or new technique.

Invest in a new course on copywriting in general, or email copy in particular and work through it. Implement what you’re learning, get really good at it, and then move on to another course. Think of it as continued education and an investment into yourself and your business.

Emulate Good Copy Around You

Great copy is all around us. You just have to look for it. Keep an eye out for good copy on products while you shop. Flip through magazines with the eye of a copy writer. Magazine cover headlines can give you great email subject line ideas for example. Look at bill boards as you walk around. Watch commercials and pay attention to the calls to action or the imagery that’s used.

Find all the great examples of good copywriting around you and then figure out a way to make it work for your email marketing. Emulate the great copywriters at expensive ad agencies and your copy can’t help but get better over time.

Keep Practicing

Most importantly, keep practicing. All the studying in the world won’t do you any good if you don’t put what you’ve learned into practice. The simple habit of writing emails with an eye for copy each and every week will help you get better. Practice may not make perfect, but it will help you get better and better at email copy writing.

Keep working, keep learning, and keep writing. Not only will you become a better copywriter over time, it will also become easier, and more effortless to write these emails each week. Before you know it, they will become a fun part of doing business and growing your online empire.
