How to Live Stream on YouTube

Live Streaming

YouTube live has around 2.3 billion active users every single month. YouTube alone sees approximately 122 million active users every single day. Making it a powerful platform to use as a streamer or video content creator.

Here are the basic steps to live streaming on YouTube:

Create Your Channel

To go live, you must create a YouTube channel first with an active google account. Then, be sure to use your business e-mail to register and pick a username that aligns with the niche, industry, or overall content you want to stream.

Confirm Basic Internet and Hardware Requirements

Be sure you have the proper tools and internet connection to get started. A hardwire connection is best for those using laptop or desktop computers. If you are using a DSLR or gaming console, you will also need a capture code and encoding software to get started.

Choose Webcam, Mobile, or Encoder

If you want to stream from your smartphone, you will need to have 1,000 subscribers first. Otherwise, you will need to stream from your laptop or desktop computer.

Verify Your Channel

Verify your channel by going to the following URL: youtube.com/verify. You will either be shown that your channel is already verified or be promoted to verify it. Answer the questions that appear to verify your channel to be able to live stream.

Add Channel Branding

Be sure to add channel branding before you go live by uploading page art and watermarks. This way, the moment you get new viewers, they know who you are and can start to learn and recognize your brand from day one.

Plan Your Content

Decide what content you want to share before you go live on YouTube. For example, gaming and cooking are some of the most popular niches to get started on this platform. Also, ensure that you outline individual goals for each live stream you schedule to do. This way, you can better plan your content and crush your goals.

Locate and Click the “Create” Icon

Then select “Go Live.” From here, you will be prompted to schedule your live stream or go live now. Fill in all the information it asks to the best of your knowledge. Be sure to fill in description boxes, titles, and any categories or keywords so your audience can easily find you. Your titles and descriptions are the most important sections of your broadcast for viewers on YouTube to find you.

Remember, you don’t need to be a video gamer to be successful with live streaming. You can use YouTube and other platforms too. There are many genres, and niches choose from, and with the way the algorithm works, you are more likely to get found starting with YouTube than any other platform.
