You can’t work effectively and efficiently until you have a very clear picture of what you’re doing. Start by mapping out your entire business. Once you have it all lain out in front of you, it will be much easier to see what you should be working on next.
Here’s how to map out your business:
Start with your website. Then make a list of everything related to it.
- blog
- newsletter
- auto responders
- products
- social media accounts
Along with whatever other “assets” you have in your business. How you list it all down is up to you.
Pen and Paper
Old fashioned pen and paper is a great way to do this. Sometimes it helps to walk away from your computer for a bit. Spread out at the kitchen table or curl up on the couch with a large notebook and draw out everything you have working for you in your business right now.
Another benefit of using pen and paper is that you can lay it out in any format that makes most sense to you. Use bubble drawings, create something resembling a family tree, or draw out your funnel in a funnel shape. Or just make a long list of notes. Heck you can even write various parts of your business or individual projects on stick notes or index cards and move them around.
Mind Maps
If you prefer to keep it digital, mind maps are a great option. There are several different free and paid mind mapping programs out there. Pick one and get comfortable using it.
Then map out your business, or even just a particular project you want to focus on over the coming weeks.
Once you have everything mapped out, walk away from it for a bit. Come back the next day and decide where your focus should be. What’s the next logical big thing you need to be working on? What will help you move ahead and improve your bottom line?
